MMS Band

Announcements

The MMS Band is open to all students interested in playing an instrument. Practice is held daily during study hall, and the band performs in concerts and ratings festivals throughout the school year. Many members participate in Honor Band activities at Murray State University, UT Martin, and All-West Tennessee. Eighth grade students have the opportunity to march with the Westview High School Band!

West Tennessee SBOA Concert Festival: Tuesday, April 10, 2009

Congratulations to the Middle School band students who participated at the West Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association concert ratings festival at UTM. Twenty-five bands from all over West Tennessee played before judges who assigned a rating based on quality of performance. The Martin and Sharon students were awarded a rating of “excellent” on both prepared music and sight read music.

Several 8th graders who have been invited to perform in the Westview Marching Band during the 08-09 school year. Pictured below are: Heather Peckham, Sarah Katherine Fortson, Brooke Baker, Delaney Lippard, Leah Owen, Jazmin Whiles, and Cheyenne Gargus. Way to go!!

Awards Won 2007 - 2008

Congratulations to our BAND members who competed in the WTSBOA concert festival at UTM in March! They received an EXCELLENT rating for both their prepared music and sight reading. Good job!

Congratulations to our band for placing 1st place band and 2nd place percussion in the Union City band competition!

Superior rating and 5th place in division at the Skyhawk Invitational. Way to go!

Awards Won 2006 - 2007

Superior ratings at West TN School Bands and Orchestra Association on both prepared and sight read music. We were the ONLY group to do so!

The marching band members received awards at every contest entered this year, including 2 overall FIRSTS, 2 SECONDS, and 1 THIRD. Different sections, such as percussion and color guard, also received awards.

The band performed atthe World War II Memorial in Washington, DC, during spring break.
